Ahmed al Ahmed, hailed as a hero for confronting the Bondi gunman in December last year, has pleaded not guilty to assaulting his father during a dispute over millions of dollars in donations he received.
Charges and Court Appearance
The 44-year-old appeared before Bankstown Local Court today, charged with assault following an argument with his father at a Sydney home on March 9. He declined to comment to waiting media outside the court.
His lawyer, Mohamad Sakr, told reporters: “He is a heroic man and his honesty and dignity should be maintained until these matters ultimately are determined.” Sakr added, “It’s been very difficult. It is a family situation that he never expected.”
Family Feud Over Donations
The court proceedings come amid a bitter family feud over the $2.6 million in donations that Ahmed received after his brave intervention during the Bondi Junction stabbing spree. His brothers Hozifah and Sameh have been charged with threatening Ahmed unless he agreed to share the funds. The case continues.
