Ahmed Al Ahmed, the 44-year-old man hailed as a hero during the Bondi terror attack, has been charged with assaulting his father. The alleged incident occurred in March, when Ahmed is accused of attacking his elderly father at his home, reportedly putting him in a headlock.
Legal Proceedings
Ahmed will face court on July 29 after being charged with common assault and stalking. In addition, police have taken out an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) to protect his father. The AVO prohibits Ahmed from assaulting, stalking, harassing, or contacting his father, and requires him to stay at least 100 metres away from his father's home and workplace.
Brothers Also Charged
Ahmed's two brothers are also facing criminal charges. They are accused of threatening him over the phone and demanding $100,000 each. This allegedly occurred after a fundraiser created to support Ahmed raised $2.6 million. Both brothers have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
When contacted by 7NEWS on Thursday afternoon, the family declined to comment on the AVO or the charges. The case continues to unfold as Ahmed prepares for his court appearance.
