A major hospital's emergency department has been temporarily closed after a car crashed into the building on Thursday morning. The vehicle smashed into a wall at St John of God Murdoch, located in Perth's southern suburbs, at approximately 10:15 am.
Response and Safety Measures
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has dispatched a crew to the scene and is currently assisting with the situation. A spokesperson for the department confirmed that the car has not yet been removed, and the area has been cordoned off for safety. Police are also present at the scene, investigating the incident.
Patient Advisory
St John of God Hospital has informed patients that its private emergency department is temporarily closed. The hospital advised via social media: "The nearest 24/7 emergency department is at Fiona Stanley Hospital, across the road. Call triple-0 for life-threatening emergencies." All other hospital services continue to operate normally.
A St John of God Health Care spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au: "We have notified St John WA, Fiona Stanley Hospital and other relevant partners and stakeholders. We apologise for the inconvenience and are working to safely restore services as soon as possible."
No injuries have been reported from the crash. Authorities are working to remove the vehicle and assess the structural damage to the building.
