Motorists are being urged to avoid a major intersection in Perth’s north-east after a serious crash sparked road closures and heavy traffic delays on Wednesday morning.
Crash at Marshall and Altone Roads
Police have shut access to Altone Road northbound from Reid Highway after a serious crash at the intersection of Marshall and Altone roads in Whiteman. The closure remains in place under police direction, with traffic banking up on approach as emergency services work at the scene. Drivers have been urged to avoid the area and seek an alternative route.
Other Incidents Affecting Traffic
A breakdown on Graham Farmer Freeway eastbound just after the Northbridge Tunnel has forced the closure of the left lane. Incident response crews are on site and motorists are being warned to merge carefully as they exit the tunnel. A separate breakdown on the westbound side of Graham Farmer Freeway after the Northbridge Tunnel caused delays before being cleared. Traffic is still moving slowly through the area as congestion eases.
A truck breakdown on Tonkin Highway northbound before Collier Road in Bayswater has also been cleared. The truck had stopped in the left emergency lane, with the driver seen outside the vehicle, prompting warnings for motorists to exercise caution.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes to avoid delays.
