Teen charged after girl abducted outside Melbourne school

A 15-year-old boy has been charged following the alleged abduction of a 17-year-old girl outside a high school in southeast Melbourne. The incident occurred on Friday morning at Keysborough Secondary College’s Banksia Campus on Janine Rd in Springvale South.

Details of the incident

About 8.30am, the girl was walking into the school when she was allegedly approached by the boy. Police allege he forced her into a vehicle before driving away. The pair are believed to be known to each other. The boy was arrested on Jezebel Way in Tarneit about 12pm the same day, while the girl was taken to hospital for assessment.

Charges and court appearance

The boy has since been charged with abduction and was scheduled to appear before a children’s court on Saturday. The alleged incident occurred just hours before Victorian school holidays began.

School and department response

The Department of Education confirmed it was aware of the incident. “Wellbeing supports were provided to the family and any others within the school community that may have required them,” a spokesperson said. The school community has been offered counseling and support services.
