Police have charged four teenagers with murder after a man linked to the Mongols bikie gang was allegedly kidnapped from his home and his body dumped in another suburban area of Melbourne.
Details of the Incident
The 30-year-old man was dragged from his house in the city's northeast in the early hours of May 15, and his body was discovered at a park in the city's west about 90 minutes later. On Wednesday, police said four 17-year-old males, an 18-year-old male, and a 23-year-old man had all been arrested and charged and were expected to face court on Thursday.
The man allegedly kidnapped in front of his children was Patrick Longordo, whose father was a long-time Mongols chapter president. Mr. Longordo's body was found near a playground in the suburb of Tarneit on May 15.
Arrests and Charges
Police raided eight homes on Wednesday morning, making six arrests. Mr. Longordo was allegedly pulled from the house in South Morang about 3am, bundled into a car, and his body was found at a park in a residential part of Tarneit some 40km away. Police said at the time the group involved had been armed with machetes when they broke into the South Morang house. The car allegedly used in the kidnapping was found burnt out later that day.
Announcing the charges on Wednesday night, a police spokesperson said the four 17-year-olds and the 23-year-old man from Truganina had been charged with murder, kidnapping, aggravated home invasion, and criminal damage by fire. An 18-year-old male from Point Cook has been charged with assist offender and criminal damage by fire.
The group were arrested in a series of raids across Melbourne on Wednesday morning. The two adults were denied bail, and all six are scheduled in court for Thursday. Police are still calling for anyone with footage or information on the South Morang or Tarneit incidents to come forward.
