Emergency crews responded to a dramatic scene on Interstate 75 in Ooltewah, Tennessee, on 6 June 2026, after a truck carrying fireworks caught fire and exploded. The incident, captured on video, showed a massive cloud of sparks and rockets erupting from the trailer as stunned onlookers watched from an overpass.
No Injuries Reported
The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department confirmed that the trailer was fully loaded with fireworks, all of which ignited and exploded during the blaze. In a Facebook video, the department noted that the fireworks "were going off in different directions, endangering drivers," but fortunately, no one was injured. Traffic was halted temporarily but was quickly brought under control by first responders.
Cause and Destination Unknown
Authorities have not yet determined the exact destination of the truck or the cause of the fire. The incident occurred just weeks before the Fourth of July holiday, adding an unexpected early celebration to the highway.
This event follows other unusual truck accidents, including a 40,000-pound spill of extra-firm tofu in Missouri in March and a fiery crash involving a load of ribeye steaks last year.
