Thai police have revealed that the 17-year-old girl allegedly murdered by West Australian man Simon Peter Carman weighed only 40kg when her body was discovered inside a suitcase last week. The remains of Tunchanok Donhomla, known to friends as Nong Cake, were found near railway tracks in Pattaya, Thailand, on June 26, more than 4km from Mr Carman's Jomtien apartment complex.
Victim's Details and Suspect's Profile
Police chief Colonel Anek Srathongyoo confirmed that the teenager was 150cm tall and weighed just 40kg at the time of her death. In stark contrast, the accused killer stands at 180cm and weighs more than 100kg, according to Thai authorities. Mr Carman, a Perth native, was arrested on Friday night, just minutes before he was scheduled to board a Jetstar flight back to Perth. His arrest came shortly before the discovery of the teenager's body.
Arrest and Watch List Timing
Colonel Srathongyoo disclosed that Mr Carman's name was added to a watch list only 10 minutes before he passed through airport security. Thai police indicated they would not have had a warrant to arrest him if he had managed to board the flight. Mr Carman is currently being held at Pattaya Remand Prison.
Sequence of Events
CCTV footage captured the teen alive for the last time at approximately 3:30am on Thursday, entering the apartment complex hand-in-hand with Mr Carman. Later that evening, around 9:25pm, he was seen leaving the rear of the complex while dragging a suitcase containing her body. He is accused of strapping the suitcase to the back of a motorcycle, dumping it near the railway tracks, and returning to the complex about 35 minutes later.
Legal Charges and Potential Penalties
Mr Carman faces four charges: murder, moving or destroying a corpse, concealing a corpse, and abduction of a child for indecent purpose. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment or the death penalty under Thai law.
