Wesley College in South Perth has been recognized as the top private school in the nation, according to Schools360’s 2026 comparison rankings. The independent school comparison platform evaluates private and independent schools through a data-led assessment framework.
Evaluation Criteria
Rather than focusing solely on academic results, Schools360 measures performance across five areas: Academic Excellence, Student Wellbeing, Learning Programs, Learning Environment, and Institutional Excellence. The South Perth school, founded in 1923, achieved an overall score of 93.3 per cent.
For Wesley College, the recognition reflects the breadth and strength of the college experience. “While no ranking can fully capture the spirit and character of a school community, this achievement highlights many of the qualities that define a Wesley education,” the college stated. “It acknowledges the strength of the college’s academic programs, its commitment to student wellbeing, the quality of its co-curricular opportunities, and the supportive learning environment created across the college.”
Other WA Schools
The next highest-ranked Western Australian school was Scotch College, which was placed 16th nationally. The rankings are based on 60 individual scoring elements, and the 2026 edition introduced a new AI-enabled school scoring engine, combining artificial intelligence with expert human review to ensure accuracy.
The college attributed the result to the dedication of Wesley’s teachers, professional staff, coaches, boarding staff, and support teams. “Strong schools are built through consistent daily effort—thoughtful teaching, attentive pastoral care, high expectations, well-run programs, and the many small interactions that help students feel known, valued and supported,” the college stated.
Future Developments
Wesley College is currently working on its Centenary Building Project and the new Aquatic Precinct. Once complete, the developments will include new multi-sports courts, gathering spaces, classrooms, specialist learning facilities, a 50-metre swimming pool, and a full-size international water polo pool, further strengthening the opportunities available to Wesley students.
