The body of a crew member who vanished from a commercial ship overnight has been discovered. Water Police made the find in waters off Frankston, Melbourne, at approximately 2:30 PM on Friday.
Investigation Underway
Victoria Police stated that the male has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be the missing crewman. The death will be investigated, though it is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
Search Operation Details
The alarm was raised around 8:30 PM on Thursday, prompting a major rescue operation at Port Phillip Bay to locate the worker, who was in his 30s. The full-scale multi-agency search involved the Police Airwing, Australian Maritime Safety Authority Aircraft, HEMS Air Ambulance, and numerous water vessels.
Authorities are continuing their inquiries and will prepare a report for the coroner.
