Wind-Blown Bunnings Trolley Slams into SUV, Causing $500 Damage

A runaway shopping trolley at a Bunnings store in Adelaide has resulted in hundreds of dollars in damage after a sudden gust of wind propelled it across the car park and directly into a parked SUV. Shoppers at the Noarlunga location in Adelaide's south witnessed the abandoned trolley rapidly accelerate, rolling over the bitumen before crashing into a red Honda CR-V.

Caught on Camera: Owner Witnesses Aftermath

The incident was captured on video, and the unfortunate owner, Hosein Sheibani, emerged just in time to see the aftermath. He inspected fresh scratches along the side of his vehicle as the customers who failed to return the trolley to its bay drove away, completely unaware of the damage they had left behind.

"That was a really interesting, frustrating event that has happened," Sheibani told 7NEWS. The scrape cost him $500 to repair, with Bunnings contributing $300 as a goodwill gesture, though the dents remain visible.

Reigniting Frustration Over Trolley Courtesy

This event has reignited frustration among shoppers who argue that returning a trolley is a basic act of courtesy that not everyone seems willing to perform. Sheibani expressed hope that by speaking out, others will think twice before leaving a trolley loose in a car park.

"Maybe the people are not aware of their action — how much it will affect someone else," he said. He added, "Just make sure we are doing the right thing, which will make life much easier for everyone."

The incident underscores the broader issue of public responsibility and the potential consequences of neglecting simple tasks like trolley return, which can lead to unexpected financial and emotional burdens for innocent parties.
