A dramatic rescue unfolded in Condon on Tuesday evening after a driver became trapped in a burning car following a collision with a power pole. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Dalrymple Road around 6:30 pm after reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Crash Details
The vehicle, a white sedan, was seen engulfed in flames as it wrapped around the pole. Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang before seeing smoke and fire. The driver, believed to be in his 20s, was trapped inside the wreckage as the fire spread rapidly.
Rescue Efforts
Queensland Fire and Rescue crews arrived within minutes and used specialized equipment to extricate the driver. Firefighters battled the blaze while cutting through the mangled metal. A spokesperson for the Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed the man was treated for minor injuries and shock at the scene before being transported to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.
