Police have charged a 28-year-old Kelso man following an alleged drink driving incident in Rasmussen late Saturday night.
Incident Details
Emergency services were called to the scene on Riverway Drive around 11:30 pm after reports of a single-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers found a car that had left the road and struck a tree.
The driver, a 28-year-old man from Kelso, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was uninjured in the crash.
Police Investigation
Officers conducted a breath test on the driver, which allegedly returned a positive result. He was taken to the Townsville Police Station for further testing.
Police will allege the man's blood alcohol concentration was more than three times the legal limit.
Charges Laid
The man has been charged with one count of driving under the influence of liquor (UIL) and one count of driving without due care.
He is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on November 20.
Police Reminder
Police are reminding motorists of the dangers of drink driving. Sergeant Mark Richardson said, "Drink driving is a serious offence that can have devastating consequences. We urge everyone to plan ahead and never get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol."
The Queensland Police Service continues to conduct random breath testing across the state to deter and detect drink driving.
