A tree lopper has tragically died after falling from a tree at a property in Clifton Beach, north of Cairns, in a devastating workplace incident.
Emergency services were called to a residential address on Roderick Street around 11:30 am on Tuesday, following reports a man had fallen from a significant height.
Emergency Response and Tragic Outcome
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) confirmed they responded to the incident with multiple resources. A QAS spokeswoman detailed their response, stating they dispatched "two paramedic crews, a critical care paramedic and the Cairns-based rescue helicopter."
Despite the rapid and comprehensive emergency response, the situation was dire. The man had fallen approximately eight metres, sustaining critical injuries from which he could not be saved. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Workplace Safety Investigation Underway
Queensland Police have confirmed they are preparing a report for the coroner, which is standard procedure in such tragic incidents. The death is being treated as non-suspicious.
This fatal accident has also triggered the attention of workplace health and safety authorities. A WorkSafe Queensland spokesman confirmed they had been notified of the incident and are making initial inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death.
