The Western Australian State Government has announced the appointment of Helen Robinson as the new permanent chief executive of the Insurance Commission of WA, following her interim leadership role.
Government Chooses Internal Candidate for Top Role
In a move that prioritises continuity and internal experience, the State Government has selected Helen Robinson to lead one of Western Australia's largest government enterprises. Robinson had been serving as the interim chief executive since July last year, following the retirement of her predecessor Rod Whithear.

State Treasurer Rita Saffioti highlighted Robinson's qualifications for the position, noting her extensive executive experience across both government and non-government organisations. Saffioti emphasised Robinson's strong track record of strategic and operational leadership as key factors in the appointment decision.
Robinson's career path demonstrates significant experience in both public and private sectors:
- Joined the Insurance Commission of WA as chief operating officer in July 2024 as part of succession planning
- Previously spent four and a half years with services group Serco
- Served 29 months as contract director at Fiona Stanley Hospital
- Held position as Serco's national director of operations for 17 months
