Gateway Mining Discovers Broad Gold Intercept at Yandal Project in Western Australia

Gateway Mining has announced a substantial gold find from aircore drilling at its Yandal gold project in Western Australia, with a 32-metre intercept grading 1.1 grams per tonne (g/t) gold. This shallow hit, starting just 20 metres downhole at the Mustang prospect, extends the mineralised zone by 500 metres to the north and ends in mineralisation, indicating further potential at depth.

High-Grade Core and Geological Insights

The drilling results included an 8-metre core section with a higher grade of 2.1g/t gold. Importantly, the drill hole halted upon reaching harder, fresh primary rock while still in mineralisation, suggesting untapped resources within a previously unexplored shear zone. This discovery has expanded the high-grade strike length of the Mustang prospect to at least 900 metres.

Management attributes the mineralisation to a newly identified splay structure branching off the primary Mustang shear zone. The company believes the drill may have intersected a brand-new high-grade lode, opening into a northern dilation zone—a geological feature often linked to thicker and richer mineral deposits.

Enhanced Understanding and Future Plans

This result has improved Gateway's grasp of the local geology, revealing approximately 4 kilometres of untested strike length. The company now recognises that previous drilling further north did not extend sufficiently eastward to evaluate newly defined structures. Gateway Mining chief executive officer Richard Pugh stated, "It’s now clear that our previous drilling hasn’t been drilled eastward enough on regional lines to properly test this structure."

In response, Gateway has planned additional holes to target the dilation zone, bolstering the over 6-kilometre Eastern Gold Trend. The company has also initiated planning to test an extra 800 metres of strike to the north, leveraging better structural insights.

Project Overview and Resource Base

Located about 85 kilometres northeast of Wiluna, Gateway's Yandal project spans 1,780 square kilometres along the eastern edge of the Yandal Greenstone Belt, a prolific gold region in Australia. This belt is home to Northern Star Resources' Jundee operation, which boasts over 10 million ounces of gold.

Across its Yandal holdings, Gateway has already established a resource of 8.17 million tonnes at 1.52g/t gold, equating to 400,400 ounces. Centred on the Horse Well Gold Camp and Dusk 'til Dawn deposit, this inventory provides a solid foundation for further exploration and growth.

Ongoing Exploration and Future Prospects

While the Mustang results are promising, Gateway is also focused on its Great Western prospect, another key target at Yandal where drilling is currently underway. The company awaits assays from about 18,000 metres of drilling at Great Western, with initial results expected within two weeks.

With Mustang emerging as a significant discovery front, Gateway is entering a potentially transformative phase at Yandal. Its extensive landholding, growing resource base, and multiple active targets position the company for continued success in gold exploration.
