Landlord's $2 Million Property Devastated by Tenants in Baulkham Hills Horror Scene
A landlord has been confronted with a catastrophic mess after tenants severely damaged their $2 million property, prompting professional cleaners to label the situation "a horror". Located in Baulkham Hills, approximately 31 kilometers northwest of the Sydney CBD, the house was neglected for months as tenants avoided inspections before finally being evicted, leaving behind a residence that had deteriorated room by room.
Professional Cleaner Describes Unprecedented Disaster
Ashleigh Partsch-Isaako, a professional cleaner hired to address the devastation, expressed shock at the scene, stating it was unlike anything she had ever encountered. "I need to fully suit up and put on a mask because not only is the smell bad, but we don't know what's underneath all this rubbish as well," she said. "It was like a horror. It was like I've never seen before." Partsch-Isaako has already completed $4,000 worth of cleaning work, with the owners, a Tasmanian couple, planning to handle the remaining restoration themselves. They are reportedly baffled by the transformation of their once-pristine home into a state of disrepair.
Risks and Consequences for Tenants and Landlords
Following an extensive cleanup effort, the home has nearly been restored to a livable condition. However, experts caution that such incidents, while rare, highlight inherent risks in property investment. Leo Patterson Ross, CEO of the Tenants' Union of NSW, emphasized, "When people invest in property in Australia, they often don't take into account all of the risks that can be associated." The tenants involved are likely to face significant repercussions for their actions. Ross added, "The people who've been renting this home now might find it difficult to find a new home because there will be this incident on their record." This case serves as a stark reminder of the potential pitfalls in the rental market, underscoring the importance of thorough tenant screening and regular property inspections to mitigate damage risks.
