Police and fire investigators are probing a suspicious blaze that damaged a newly constructed home in Perth's southern suburbs in the early hours of Monday morning.
Early Morning Emergency Call
Emergency services rushed to Spencer Road in Langford after a triple-0 call was received at 7.40am on Monday, 29 December 2025. A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman reported that black smoke was visible coming from inside the property, which had only recently been completed.
On arrival, firefighters discovered a pile of internal doors alight, with flames having spread to the ceiling. Their quick response meant the fire was extinguished within minutes, which helped limit the overall damage to the vacant building.
Police Treat Fire as Suspicious
The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious, given the circumstances and the fact the home was unoccupied. Several plainclothes police officers remained at the scene well into the afternoon, conducting a thorough examination of the property and its surroundings.
Investigators were seen speaking with residents from neighbouring homes and photographing items that had been abandoned at a bus shelter directly opposite the fire-damaged house on Spencer Road.
Appeal for Public Information
A WA Police spokeswoman has made a public appeal for information related to the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant footage, such as dashcam or home security video, or any information about the fire to come forward.
You can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an anonymous report online. The police investigation is ongoing as they work to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the suspicious fire.
