Alleged Drug Trafficking Uncovered Near School Grounds

A 23-year-old man from Bonner, already subject to a good behaviour order for previous offences, now faces serious drug trafficking charges following a police operation in Gungahlin. Louis Shuang was allegedly found in possession of 37 grams of cocaine during a search conducted by ACT Policing officers on Tuesday evening.

Police Operation Details

The incident unfolded around 7:50 pm on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, when officers observed several individuals approaching a green Toyota Camry parked at the Gungahlin College basketball courts car park. After police spoke with three men inside the vehicle, they exited and left the area. Approximately twenty minutes later, at 8:10 pm, officers stopped the same three men on Ernest Cavanagh Street.

During a search of Shuang, police allegedly discovered a plastic bag containing the significant quantity of cocaine. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed additional concerning items, including a prohibited flick knife, a meat cleaver, and 19 bags containing green vegetable matter suspected to be cannabis.

Court Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation

Louis Shuang briefly faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday, November 26, where he did not apply for bail. He has been charged with trafficking in a controlled drug other than cannabis and has not yet entered a plea.

ACT Policing has indicated that their investigation is continuing and further charges are expected to be laid. Shuang is scheduled to reappear in court in February 2026.

Authorities have urged anyone with information about illicit drug activity in the community to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
