Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co Brings South West Vibes to Perth CBD

Perth beer enthusiasts who have traditionally ventured south to enjoy Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co's acclaimed beverages will soon have a much shorter journey. The popular Western Australian brewery is expanding into the heart of the city, with plans to unveil a signature metropolitan venue at Brookfield Place on St Georges Terrace in July 2026.

A Major Milestone for the Brewery

This expansion marks a significant development for Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co, which was originally founded as a brewpub in the Margaret River region back in 2012. Since its inception, the brand has grown to include three other locations south of Perth: Caves Road Brewpub, Vasse Brewery & Taphouse, and the Rockingham Taphouse, which was acquired and transformed from the former Sound Brewing Co.

Managing director Brent Burton expressed excitement about this new chapter, stating that creating a signature venue in the CBD represents a major milestone for the company. "It's an incredible honour to partner with Brookfield Properties and join the world-class precinct at Brookfield Place," Mr Burton said. "This is a development we're extremely excited to unveil in July 2026."

Design and Experience

The new city venue promises to be a beer haven for urban workers, featuring a completely re-imagined interior design alongside an expanded beer garden. The space is specifically designed to offer an escape from the hustle and bustle of the business district, providing a laid-back sanctuary for guests throughout the day and into the evening.

With 24 taps dedicated to pouring the brewery's most awarded beers and a food menu that combines elevated casual pub favourites with international flavours, the venue aims to deliver a comprehensive hospitality experience. Director of operations Brendan Day emphasized that despite the metropolitan location, the venue will stay true to its Margaret River roots.

"We're re-imagining the space to be entirely focused on high-quality hospitality without the ego or pretence," Mr Day explained. "Our vision is to bring the essence of the South West to St Georges Terrace — great beer, elevated pub food, and a welcoming place people want to spend time in."

Broader Context in Perth's CBD

Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co will not be the only established WA brewpub finding a new home in the central business district. Fremantle's Little Creatures is set to land at Elizabeth Quay in November 2025, indicating a growing trend of regional breweries expanding their presence in Perth's urban core.

The Brookfield Place precinct itself is undergoing significant changes. Recently, the privately owned Hub Australia opened a massive 10,000 square metre premium workspace spanning four floors of Tower One at 125 St Georges Terrace. Meanwhile, the precinct bid farewell to Bar Lafayette in late December after 13 years as founding tenants, though its owners continue to operate sister bar W Churchill next door.

This expansion represents more than just another venue opening — it signifies the growing appeal of South West hospitality experiences within Perth's urban landscape, offering city workers and residents alike a taste of regional WA without leaving the metropolitan area.
