Hyde Perth Officially Opens as Australia's First Purpose-Built Hotel on Pier Street
A bold new hotel has officially opened in Perth, marking a significant milestone as Australia's first purpose-built hotel on Pier Street. The property features 121 rooms, a pool deck, wellness areas, event spaces, and a Greek restaurant called Farra, offering a unique blend of luxury and cultural experiences.
Grand Opening Event Celebrates New Cultural Destination
The official opening of Hyde Perth brought together industry leaders, tourism partners, investors, and media for an evening that celebrated the arrival of a bold new cultural and hospitality destination. Guests were welcomed poolside at Farra Pool & Bar with vinyl-led beats, arrival cocktails, and roaming canapés, creating an atmosphere that balanced sophistication with the signature Hyde energy.
The event began with a Welcome to Country, followed by speeches from government, tourism, and ownership representatives. These speeches acknowledged the significance of the moment and the role Hyde Perth will play in shaping Perth's evolving hospitality and cultural landscape.
Exclusive Walkthroughs Showcase Hotel Design and Ambition
Following the speeches, guests were invited to explore the hotel through a series of curated small-group walkthroughs. These tours showcased key spaces across the property, from guest rooms to event areas, offering an exclusive look at the design, experience, and ambition behind the project.
Born from Hyde's global lineage in the 2000s LA club scene, the hotel promises more than the usual hotel experience. Hyde focuses on homing in on the creative community with DJ residencies, live sets, poolside gatherings, and wellness sessions, aiming to create a vibrant social hub.
General Manager Highlights Perth's Growing Scene
Hyde Perth general manager Rhys Challenger said Perth's growing cultural and hospitality scene made it the natural home for Hyde's first purpose-built Australian hotel. Hyde Perth brings something new to the city, it complements what's already here but offers something completely different, a five-star experience that blends lifestyle, music, and culture, giving Perth something it hasn't experienced before, he explained.
The hotel's opening is expected to enhance Perth's appeal as a destination for both locals and tourists, contributing to the city's dynamic and evolving cultural offerings.
