GroundPlan Coffee Opens on Beaufort St: A Design-Inspired Coffee Window
New Coffee Window Opens on Beaufort St in Highgate

The vibrant Beaufort Street strip in Perth has welcomed a new addition to its caffeinated landscape with the official launch of GroundPlan Coffee in Highgate. This unique coffee window celebrated its grand opening on Sunday, drawing in locals and visitors alike to mark the occasion.

A Fusion of Design and Coffee Culture

GroundPlan Coffee serves as an innovative extension of Sarandis Design, a local building design firm. The concept was born from the creative vision of building designer Sarandy Karagiannis, who saw a natural synergy between the worlds of design and coffee. This hole-in-the-wall establishment aims to bring a fresh, artistic perspective to the daily coffee ritual, reflecting the meticulous craftsmanship found in design work.

Community Celebration and Launch Event

The launch event was a lively affair, designed to foster community connections. Sarandy Karagiannis, along with family members like Juliet Karagiannis, invited neighbouring businesses, friends, suppliers, and curious passersby to join in the festivities. The atmosphere was enhanced by DJ Salma Hadad, who provided upbeat music, while outdoor seating, colourful balloons, and complimentary signature freddo-style coffees added to the celebratory mood.

Attendees included a mix of local figures and supporters, such as Sylvester Naing, Alia Whaite, Makensie Henderson, Elias Matsos, Themi Kiratzopoulos, Jack Matsos, Chloe Karagiannis, Eirene Kiratzopoulos, and Nicole Kiratzopoulos, all captured in photos by Alan Chau for The West Australian. The event successfully turned the coffee window into a hub of social interaction, with many following their noses to discover the new spot.

Enhancing the Beaufort St Experience

Located on the bustling Beaufort St strip, GroundPlan Coffee adds to the area's reputation as a destination for food, drink, and culture. Its opening aligns with Perth's growing trend of niche, specialty coffee venues that offer more than just a caffeine fix. By integrating design elements into its concept, the coffee window provides a unique experience that stands out in the competitive inner-city suburban scene.

As Perth continues to evolve, small businesses like GroundPlan Coffee play a crucial role in enriching local neighbourhoods. With its focus on community engagement and creative inspiration, this new coffee spot is poised to become a favourite among design enthusiasts and coffee lovers alike, contributing to the dynamic character of Highgate and the wider Perth region.
