Dapto Teenager Faces Court Over Alleged Fake Police Stops

A teenager from Dapto, accused of outfitting his car with flashing lights to conduct fake traffic stops across the Illawarra, has made a second appearance in court. Zenetti Lerovski, 18, was charged with two counts of impersonating a police officer and exercising their powers.

Alleged Incidents on Primbee Bypass and Shell Cove

Police allege that on January 14, around 10:30 PM, Lerovski used blue and red flashing lights in his Mitsubishi to stop an 18-year-old female driver on the Primbee Bypass. Not wearing a uniform, he allegedly asked for her licence, took her phone to his vehicle, and warned her for speeding. The woman later reported the incident to authorities.

Approximately half an hour later, Lerovski is accused of pulling over a 21-year-old man on Cove Boulevard in Shell Cove, demanding his licence and registration. The man fled the scene and contacted emergency services. Following an investigation, police arrested and charged Lerovski one month after the alleged events.

Court Proceedings and Adjournment

At Port Kembla Local Court, Lerovski, dressed in black and white, waited outside while his defence lawyer, Graeme Morrison, requested an adjournment. The acting registrar granted the motion, excusing Lerovski from attending the next court date. The matter is scheduled to return to Port Kembla in May for further proceedings.

Note: An earlier version incorrectly stated that Lerovski had pleaded not guilty; it has been confirmed that no pleas have been entered at this time.
