Jennifer Lopez shuts down co-star dating rumour in live TV moment

Jennifer Lopez shut down rumours that she is dating her Office Romance co-star Brett Goldstein during an awkward live television moment on Tuesday's US Today program.

Host Savannah Guthrie asked the duo about speculation regarding their off-screen chemistry, a question that seemingly caught Lopez off guard.

"There's never a time when I'm seen with somebody or working with somebody where they don't try to put me with the person," the Hustlers star replied. Goldstein chimed in, "I think if you stand near her, that's what happens."

Guthrie then quipped, "That's what you wish would happen," as the Ted Lasso star joked, "That's why I've been standing so close this whole time." However, Guthrie was not satisfied with their responses, telling Lopez specifically that she had circled around the question.

"OK, but I'll just say, because I'm me and you know me, that was not an answer," she said.

"That was not an answer? It was an answer!" Lopez replied, noting that there were previously unfounded rumours about her and Kevin Costner. She added, "It happens all the time. Doesn't make it true."

Guthrie then pointed out that the Let's Get Loud singer deals with constant romance rumours because she is "a hot, eligible single person."

"OK, so you're not dating in real life?" Guthrie asked again. "Not dating," Lopez said, as Goldstein added, "Correct."

Later in the interview, Guthrie joked that she got "flustered" after misplacing her cue cards with another question for Lopez.

"You tried to fluster us, and we flustered you!" Lopez said with a laugh, as Guthrie replied, "And I became flustered. It's not fair!"

Lopez and Goldstein have sparked dating rumours while promoting their new romantic comedy, which premieres Friday on Netflix. In the film, Lopez plays a CEO named Jacqueline Cruz who falls in love with her new hire, Daniel Blanchflower, played by Goldstein.

At the movie's New York City red carpet premiere last month, Lopez gushed over the "great chemistry" she has with Goldstein. "It just grew as we did the film together," she explained to People. "I expected more of a rough guy, but you get this kind, gentle but also very smart person that is so charming. That was a surprise, I think."

Goldstein, who co-wrote Office Romance with Joe Kelly, said he always had Lopez in mind to be his co-star. "We started asking ourselves who the best rom-com star is, and without hesitation, we both said J.Lo," he shared at the premiere, boasting that Lopez is "the best" in the rom-com business.

Goldstein's only public relationship was with British comedian Beth Rylance in 2021. Lopez, on the other hand, has been married four times. She filed for divorce from her latest husband, Ben Affleck, in August 2024, a few months before Office Romance started filming. She was previously married to Marc Anthony, Chris Judd and Ojani Noa.
