British television personality Jeremy Clarkson has announced that he is in remission from prostate cancer, describing himself as "without a doubt, officially the world's luckiest man." The 66-year-old former Top Gear host disclosed the positive update in an interview with The Sunday Times, following his shocking diagnosis revealed in the latest season of Clarkson's Farm.
Cancer diagnosis and treatment
Clarkson was diagnosed with an aggressive malignant tumour in his prostate last August and underwent treatment. He revealed that the cancer could have spread to other organs, including the pancreas, but was caught in time. "It was an aggressive type of cancer. It could have spread, it could have gone into the pancreas, it could have gone anywhere, and that would have been trouble," he said.
The announcement comes after the season finale of Clarkson's Farm ended on a cliffhanger, showing Clarkson in a hospital bed and hinting that the show's future depended on his medical outcome. Fans worldwide reacted swiftly to the news, with Clarkson noting he was woken up by texts from Australia after the episode aired. "The story has landed harder than I thought it would," he added.
Health journey and lifestyle changes
In 2024, Clarkson made headlines when he was hospitalised on the brink of heart failure and received two life-saving stents. Following his cancer treatment, he has adopted a more cautious lifestyle. "I really like seeing my grandchildren. I want to watch them grow up. I drive much more slowly. I'm a bit of a dawdler. I go for walks a lot. I have vegetarian food," he said.
Clarkson is now urging others to get tested for prostate cancer, joining high-profile figures like former UK Prime Minister David Cameron in promoting early detection. "This is why I have to say to everybody who's reading this, please, please, please go and get checked. It's not uncomfortable, it's not undignified. And it's a no-brainer. I did, and that's why I'm sitting here talking to you 11 months down the line," he emphasised.
Future of Clarkson's Farm
Despite his health scare, Clarkson confirmed that a sixth season of Clarkson's Farm is in production, ensuring fans can look forward to more adventures from Diddly Squat Farm. The show, which follows Clarkson's attempts to run a farm in the Cotswolds, has become a global hit.
