Savannah Guthrie has made another heartfelt appeal for her missing mother, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, as the search enters its fifth month. The Today show anchor shared an emotional post on Instagram on Sunday, marking 127 days since her mother vanished from her home in Tucson, Arizona.
New Plea for Information
In an Instagram story, Guthrie posted a painting of Jesus Christ accompanied by the words, “Oh my, my soul it cries out, soul, it cries out.” She added a separate caption reading, “Bring her home,” along with a yellow heart emoji. The post comes as authorities continue to investigate the disappearance, which they believe was an abduction.
Evidence and Investigation
Investigators found drops of blood on Guthrie’s porch and recovered DNA from a glove discovered two miles from her home. The glove initially matched a suspect seen in surveillance footage from the night of the disappearance, but it was later determined to belong to a restaurant worker, not the abductor. The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for conclusive information, while Guthrie’s family has pledged $1 million for any leads that bring Nancy home.
Guthrie’s Emotional Struggle
In a tearful interview with co-host Hoda Kotb in March, Guthrie described the agony of not knowing her mother’s whereabouts. “Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. We are in agony. It is unbearable,” she said. “And to think of what she went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night, every night. And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought. And I will not hide my face. But she needs to come home now.”
Return to Work
Despite the ongoing ordeal, Guthrie returned to the Today show in April, telling viewers, “It’s good to be home … Ready or not, let’s do the news.” She was greeted by fans outside NBC’s Rockefeller Plaza studio and thanked them for their support. “You guys have been so beautiful … I’ve received so many letters, so much kindness to me and my whole family. We feel it. We feel your prayers. So, thank you so much,” she said.
The FBI is searching for a man approximately 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build. No arrests have been made. Guthrie continues to use her platform to raise awareness, sharing updates and appeals for information in hopes of bringing her mother home.
