Sonja Morgan Reveals Why Aussie Men Are the Most Fun Ahead of Tour
Sonja Morgan on Aussie Men: 'They're the Most Fun'

Real Housewives of New York (RHONY) favourite Sonja Morgan has revealed the surprising reason she loves Australian men as she prepares to visit down under for the very first time.

In just a matter of days, the iconic reality TV star will touch down in Australia for her inaugural tour, and she is 'very excited about it'.

The 62-year-old socialite, who gained her surname when she married J.P. Morgan's great-grandson John Adams Morgan in 1998, shot to fame after joining the hit Bravo franchise in its third season in 2010.

Fast forward to today, and between filming the new E! series The Golden Life and recording personalised messages for fans on Cameo, where she recently claimed to hold the platform's top profile worldwide, Morgan is preparing to bring her signature Sonja In Your City tour to Australia. The tour kicks off in Sydney on June 12.

Sitting in her Palm Beach pad on Tuesday evening local time, the mother-of-one told SkyNews.com.au that she has never been down under before, which in her own words is 'insane'.

'I've never been there. Isn't that insane?' she said. 'I should have come to Australia when I went to Bali and Saudi Arabia, so I'm so happy to get over there. I have so many followers in Australia and I'm very excited.'

Why Aussie Men Stand Out

Morgan already has a soft spot for Australian men, thanks to what she sees as their easy-going approach to life.

'I love Aussie guys,' she said. 'The thing is, I like to have a good time, and so do the Aussies. I always think of, when you're at a resort, if you see a guy jumping off his balcony into the pool, it's usually an Aussie. They're the most fun.'

Morgan follows a growing list of Housewives making the trip to Australia. Former RHONY co-star and close friend Countess Luann de Lesseps recently toured the country with her cabaret show, while fellow New York Housewife Dorinda Medley is set to visit soon.

Australia's Love for the Franchise

For Morgan, Australia's enduring love affair with the Housewives franchise is no mystery.

'The fans are incredible,' she said. 'They really watch the shows, they know the stories, and they have a great sense of humour about everything. Australia is our second biggest market.'

According to the reality star, Australians understand exactly what the franchise is meant to be.

'They don't take things too seriously. They want to laugh, have a good time and be part of the experience, that's what Housewives is all about.'

Sonja In Your City: A Caberlesque Experience

Her own live show embraces that same spirit. Morgan describes Sonja In Your City as 'Caberlesque', a term she coined herself that combines cabaret and burlesque and is all improv.

'By the way, I'm not a professional either, but you know, if you're delusional like a housewife, you think you can do anything, so I'm doing it,' she joked. 'You know me, I'm improv. I'm not scripted.'

She explained that she started with a big expensive tour but realised she just needs a moderator and herself. 'I have a local comedian open up, and then my moderator is usually a drag queen. I support the youth, the LGBTQ, and the artists, and I like supporting local people.'

Ultimately, the Bravo star said she is most looking forward to meeting fans face-to-face throughout the down under tour.

'I'm excited to meet everybody. That's really what the show is about,' she said. 'I'm real as f***, you know? The Q and A is out of control, and the meet and greet is really out of control, we have a lot of fun.'

Fans can catch Sonja In Your City in Sydney on June 12, Melbourne on June 13, Brisbane on June 14, Perth on June 19, and Adelaide on June 20. Tickets are available at sonjamorganofficial.com.
