Demi Moore Urges Film Industry to Embrace AI, Sparks Health Concerns at Cannes
Demi Moore Says Embrace AI, Fans Worry About Her Health

Demi Moore has made explosive claims that the film industry should embrace the rise of artificial intelligence, stating that “to fight it is a battle we will lose.” The 63-year-old actress shared her perspective on AI and its role in the future of cinema during a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday.

“I always feel that against-ness breeds against-ness,” Moore said, alongside fellow Cannes jury members Stellan Skarsgård and jury president Park Chan-wook. “AI is here. And so to fight it is to fight something that is a battle that we will lose. So to find ways in which we can work with it, I think, is a more valuable path to take.”

She added: “Are we doing enough to protect ourselves? I don’t know the answer to that. And so my inclination would be to say probably not.” The star of The Substance argued that the world should not fear what AI can bring, as it could “never replace” what human creatives are capable of.

“The truth is, there really isn’t anything to fear because what it can never replace is what true art comes from, which is not the physical; it comes from the soul,” she continued. “It comes from the spirit of each and every one of us sitting here, to each and every one of us who creates every day. And that they can never recreate through something that is technical.”

These remarks come after the Ghost actress sparked health concerns among fans due to her slender figure. Moore shared a video on Instagram showing her looking glamorous in a strapless, sequin Jacquemus gown for the Cannes opening ceremony dinner, and while most fans complimented her outfit, some expressed worry.

“I’ve been a big fan of yours for years, Demi, and I say with the utmost compassion that I hope you take care of your health. A lot of people care about you,” one fan commented. Another said: “Always been beautiful, but please look after yourself, getting far too thin and it’s not healthy.” “Beautiful dress, but she is too skinny,” a third added.

However, some fans came to Moore’s defense. “Ok for everyone saying she is too skinny..I am 57 and as you get older, your appetite decreases and newsflash some of us get thin. Stop being so judgemental,” one fan wrote. Another said: “She’s beautiful and always has been but let’s please stop with the passive aggressive childish comments. I hope she does feel good in herself and yes, I agree this is not healthy. Whatever she is going through is hers to work through and we don’t need to be cruel as she moves through it.”

“The hair being styled down, the dress on her, and the matching natural diamond jewellery are perfection. I love when a stylist loves the person they’re dressing,” a third added.
