Fiancé Found Woman Dead Before Fleeing, Court Told

A man has told a Perth court that he discovered his fiancée deceased before leaving her body with paramedics and fleeing the scene. The woman's body was found outside an apartment complex and cafe on Grand Boulevard in the busy Joondalup area, in Perth's northern suburbs, at approximately 9:45 am on Wednesday.

Police Investigation and Arrest

The mysterious death prompted a major police search, leading to the arrest of 35-year-old Luke Raymond James Ritchie several suburbs away later that afternoon. No charges have been filed regarding the woman's death, as the Coronial Investigation Unit continues its inquiry. However, detectives have charged Ritchie with multiple unrelated offences after searching a property in nearby Merriwa.

Court Proceedings

During his appearance at Joondalup Magistrates Court on Thursday, Ritchie stated that he found his fiancée unresponsive after she had taken her own life. He claimed he attempted to get her help by leaving her with paramedics before running off. Ritchie was arrested hours later and charged with nine alleged offences.
