Hugh Jackman's Instagram Debut with Sutton Foster: 'Truly Magical'
Hugh Jackman praises Sutton Foster in Instagram debut

Australian superstar Hugh Jackman has officially introduced his relationship with American performer Sutton Foster to his Instagram followers, sharing a heartfelt tribute to his multi-talented partner.

Instagram Milestone for Hollywood Couple

The X-Men actor made his relationship Instagram-official by posting a glowing review of Foster's current Christmas concert performance at New York's iconic Café Carlyle. This marks the first time Jackman has featured Foster on his social media since the couple confirmed their romance earlier this year.

"@suttonlore performing during the holidays at @cafecarlyle," Jackman wrote in his Thursday night post. "Now that's an iconic NYC night! And, truly magical."

Alongside his heartfelt praise, the Australian actor shared both a photograph and a short video clip of Foster on stage. In the moving footage, Foster appears to spot Jackman in the audience, offering a warm smile before waving directly to the camera.

From Co-stars to Couple

Jackman and Foster's relationship has been building since they first met in March 2020 while conducting workshops for the Broadway revival of The Music Man. The pair went on to star together in the production, which enjoyed a successful run from 2021 through 2023.

After months of persistent romance rumours, the couple made their relationship public on January 6, 2025, when they were photographed holding hands during a dinner outing in California. Jackman appeared thoroughly smitten, marking a new chapter following his 2023 divorce from his wife of 27 years, Deborah-Lee Furness.

The Instagram post comes exactly one month after the couple made their red carpet debut on October 26, posing together at the Hollywood premiere of Jackman's new film Song Sung Blue.

A Staged Coming Out?

Seven's entertainment editor Peter Ford discussed the couple's decision to go public during a January appearance on Sunrise. "I think this was very staged and intentional," Ford observed. "I don't think Hugh rang up the paps and said we'll be at this restaurant at this time, but this was their coming out moment."

Ford noted that the relationship had been "rumoured and publicly reported for over 12 months" before the couple decided to make it official. "So very much by doing this it was a pledge to the paps saying, 'Here we are, get a photo, please leave us alone because we want to do normal stuff'."

Previously, Foster had consistently described herself and Jackman as "good friends," always stopping short of confirming a romantic relationship. However, Ford suggested the relationship has clearly progressed: "I would imagine that in the early days, either of them may not have been certain about where the relationship was going to go, was it just a casual thing, was it getting more serious. I think we can well and truly now establish that it is getting far more serious."

Foster, best known for playing lead character Liza Miller in the TV series Younger, was previously married to actor Christian Borle from 2006 to 2009. She later married screenwriter Ted Griffin in 2014 after several years of quiet dating. In October 2024, just days before what would have been their 10th wedding anniversary, news broke that Sutton had filed for divorce from Griffin with the New York County Supreme Court.

Jackman's public declaration on Instagram represents another significant step forward for the couple, demonstrating their comfort in sharing their relationship with the world while supporting each other's professional endeavours.
