Explosive court documents have revealed that radio stars Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson were involved in a fiery clash behind the scenes months before their on-air argument led to their $200 million contract being torn up.
Behind-the-Scenes Tensions
Documents filed with the Federal Court by KIIS FM owners ARN show the feud between the radio duo was simmering long before their spectacular falling out in February. The documents, lodged on Tuesday, allege that Sandilands was treating his co-host Henderson with contempt. A transcript shows she fought back, but he allegedly slapped her down.
“You want to know the truth, here’s the truth,” Sandilands allegedly said, claiming Henderson was “too much of a mother hen and not focused on the show enough.” “Don’t bother coming back until you get your s*** together like a normal person. I’ve been carrying this whole show,” he allegedly told her.
Legal Battle Intensifies
Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson are both suing ARN. The radio network claims Sandilands breached his contract with consistent workplace bullying and harassment of Henderson. There is significant financial risk for the radio network, with both stars suing ARN for over $80 million each — more than the network’s total value.
Kyle and Jackie O were on air together for 20 years. Thursday will see the first radio ratings survey released since the powerhouse duo left the programme.
