Perth woman in court after bonnet ride leaves friend critical

A Dianella woman has made her first court appearance following a late-night alleged bonnet-riding incident in Perth that left her friend fighting for life in hospital.

Court Appearance

Arianna Rose Ladbrook-Kitis appeared before Perth Magistrates Court on Friday, charged with one count of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. The 19-year-old spoke only to confirm her name during the brief hearing.

The Incident

Police allege Ladbrook-Kitis was driving a white Hyundai i30 around 10pm on April 3 on Arlunya Avenue in Cloverdale, while another woman was riding on the car’s bonnet. During the drive, the woman fell from the bonnet and struck her head on the road, sustaining a serious head injury.

The victim was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where she remains in intensive care in a critical condition.

Legal Proceedings

Ladbrook-Kitis’ bail was extended, and the matter was adjourned until June 19, when she will be required to enter a plea. Outside court, she wore sunglasses and did not answer questions from reporters.
