Ruby Rose Forced into Silence Over Katy Perry Assault Claims

Australian model and actor Ruby Rose has announced she is "no longer able to comment" on her explosive sexual assault allegations against pop star Katy Perry, following the finalisation of police reports related to the incident alleged to have occurred nearly two decades ago in Melbourne.

Police Intervention Halts Public Discussion

In a social media update shared on Threads on Tuesday night, Rose, 40, explained that her inability to speak further stems from completing official reports with law enforcement authorities. "As of this afternoon, I have finalised all of my reports. This means I am no longer able to comment, reports, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved," Rose wrote. She acknowledged that this might appear as though she is ignoring supportive messages and other accounts but emphasised it is a procedural necessity.

Rose expressed relief at the police directive to maintain silence, stating, "This is a standard request from the police in many ways, quite the relief. I can start the healing process now. And temporarily move forward. I love you all so much." This development comes after Rose initially made the allegations over the weekend in response to a social media post about Perry's reaction to Justin Bieber's Coachella 2026 performance.

Details of the Alleged Incident Emerge

Rose provided graphic details of the alleged assault on Threads, describing an event at the Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne where she claims Perry engaged in non-consensual physical contact. "(Perry) didn't kiss me. She saw me 'resting' on my best friend's lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her," Rose recounted. She admitted to previously downplaying the incident as a "funny little drunk story" due to uncertainty about how to handle it, and noted that Perry later assisted with her US visa application, which influenced her decision to keep it secret.

Katy Perry's Team Denies Allegations

In response to the allegations, a representative for Katy Perry issued a strong denial to Page Six, labelling the claims as "categorically false" and "dangerous reckless lies." The statement further criticised Rose, pointing to a "well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named." This rebuttal adds to the controversy surrounding the accusations.

Historical Context and Similar Accounts

The allegations have prompted a re-examination of Perry's past behaviour, with a resurfaced 2014 interview on Conan O'Brien's late-night show featuring actress Anna Kendrick. In the interview, Kendrick playfully described a similar encounter, joking, "Katy Perry finger-banged my cleavage. It was a weird night. She's very mature." When questioned by the host, Kendrick suggested her gown was "kinda' asking for it" and added, "If nobody had done it, I would've been a little sad." This anecdote, while presented humorously at the time, has gained renewed attention in light of Rose's serious claims.

Rose, known for her role in Orange Is the New Black and as a former MTV Australia presenter from 2007 to 2011, has been an outspoken figure in the entertainment industry. Her transition to acting and modelling in the US has been marked by various public statements, but the current situation underscores the legal and personal complexities involved in such high-profile allegations.
