Woman dies after rock climbing fall at Mount Arapiles

A young woman has tragically died after falling while rock climbing with friends in western Victoria. The 24-year-old from New South Wales suffered critical injuries after falling from Mount Arapiles, also known as Organ Pipes, around 11:30am on Monday.

Emergency Response and Medical Care

A specialist Air Ambulance Victoria crew winched her from the site and transported her to a nearby paddock, where she received medical treatment for more than an hour. She was then flown to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition with upper-body injuries, where she later died.

Police Statement

Horsham Police Acting Senior Sergeant Dale McIvor confirmed on Tuesday that the woman passed away overnight. “It’s unfortunate, these incidents on the rock happen from time to time, but it’s just sad when they do,” he said. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
