Australia's premier Christmas event, Carols In The Domain, is undergoing a significant transformation this year as The Salvation Army steps into the role of naming rights partner for the first time in the event's 43-year history.
New Era for Beloved Christmas Tradition
After an impressive 21-year partnership with Woolworths, the iconic Australian charity is taking centre stage at the country's largest Christmas celebration. The Salvation Army has maintained a long-standing connection with the event throughout its four-decade history, making this new partnership a natural progression.
Sunrise hosts Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington have confirmed they will return to helm the festivities, bringing their familiar warmth and enthusiasm to the December 20th event. The popular presenters expressed their excitement about both returning to their hosting duties and welcoming the new partnership.
Hosts Share Their Excitement
"It's the best time of the year, and it's almost here," Barr told 7NEWS.com.au, capturing the anticipation building around the annual celebration. "Shirvo and I are thrilled to be back hosting Carols In The Domain and couldn't be more excited to welcome The Salvation Army as our new presenting partner."
Barr went on to describe the unique magic of the event, highlighting "the choir, the voices, the colours, the magic" that makes the December 20th gathering unlike any other night in Australia's festive calendar.
Shirvington echoed his co-host's enthusiasm, describing Carols In The Domain as "always such a special night... full of music, family, and that incredible Christmas spirit." He added his hopes for a Santa appearance and emphasised the deeper meaning behind this year's partnership change.
Meaningful Partnership Change
"What makes it even more meaningful this year is having The Salvation Army as our naming partner," Shirvington explained. "The Salvos do such important work supporting Australians doing it tough, especially at Christmas, and they've been part of the Carols story for more than 40 years – so it's only fitting they take centre stage this year."
While The Salvation Army assumes the naming rights, Woolworths will continue as a major supporter of the event. The supermarket giant received acknowledgement for their generous two decades of sponsorship that helped build Carols In The Domain into the national institution it is today.
The Salvation Army's Janine Kewming expressed pride in the expanded relationship, stating their commitment to "promote our shared values of bringing the true hope and joy of Christmas to life by giving back to those in need through our annual Christmas Appeal."
The 43rd Carols In The Domain will be held on Saturday, December 20, continuing its legacy as Australia's biggest Christmas celebration, now with a renewed focus on charitable giving and community support through its new partnership with The Salvation Army.
