Mandurah's Rotary Duck Race Set to Return with a Splash This Easter
Thousands of vibrant yellow ducks are poised to flood the Mandurah foreshore as one of the region's most beloved and quack-tastic events makes its highly anticipated return this Easter. The Rotary Family Fun Day and Mandurah Duck Race have firmly established themselves as a bright yellow fixture on the social calendar, offering individuals and businesses the opportunity to purchase ducks to compete in the race.
Funding and Growth for the Event
This year, Rotary has secured a significant boost with $6000 in Lotterywest funding, aimed at supporting and expanding the event. In the previous year, more than 12,000 ducks raced across the estuary, and organizers are setting their sights even higher for 2026, with expectations of over 13,000 ducks joining the flock. The Mandurah District Rotary Club, which runs the event, highlights it as a standout on the calendar, raising funds for community projects while giving back to the people who support Rotary.
Community Impact and Support
Mandurah Districts Rotary Club president Pete Smith emphasized the crucial role of the Lotterywest funding in delivering the event and fostering its continued growth. "The funding from Lotterywest is very important, it helps go towards the cost of the family-friendly fun day, which is completely free for the community to attend," he said. "It's the club's main fundraising event and it just gets better each year. So much fun." Mandurah MLA Rhys Williams echoed this sentiment, noting that the event captures the essence of the community. "Mandurah does community really well, and this is one of those days where you see it front and centre," he said. "Thousands of ducks in the water, families along the foreshore, local groups getting involved. It's simple, it's fun, and it brings people together. This Lotterywest funding helps make sure more people can be part of it and keeps the day accessible for families."
