Rock Legend's Surprise Perth Taco Discovery
Aussie music icon Jimmy Barnes has treated his working-class appetite to an unexpected culinary delight in Perth while preparing for his anniversary tour performance at Sandalford Wines this weekend.
Social Media Reveals Unlikely Dining Spot
The 69-year-old singer, currently touring nationally with The Jane Barnes Band, performed in Bunbury on Thursday before enjoying a Friday night off in Scarborough. Rather than opting for the bustling coastal scene, Barnes discovered a Mexican street food venue tucked behind Osborne Park's Mane Liquor bottle shop on Scarborough Beach Road.
"An interesting dinner find in Scarborough, Perth — at the back of a beer specialist shop there's a taco kitchen," Barnes captioned his social media post. "Carnitas with all sorts of chilli dressings and zero beer at Taco Guru & Son. Perfect on my night off."
Accompanying the enthusiastic review was an image showing the enduring performer presenting a plate of tacos with one hand while holding up a sauce bottle with the other, his trademark smile beaming at the camera.
Venue Celebrates Legendary Visit
Staff from Taco Guru & Son expressed their excitement about hosting the Australian rock legend, sharing images of themselves posing alongside Barnes and posting a heartfelt message about the experience.
"When legends support local? Huge thanks to Jimmy Barnes for dropping in for tacos and sharing the love," the venue wrote on social media. "Moments like this mean everything to a small family business."
The visit provided valuable exposure for the hidden culinary establishment, highlighting how celebrity endorsements can significantly impact local businesses.
Preparing for Swan Valley Performance
On Saturday afternoon, Barnes attended a soundcheck at the Swan Valley venue alongside his band, telling fans "the sun is out and we're ready to rock" ahead of the evening's performance.
The concert forms part of Barnes' Working Class Man 40th Anniversary Tour, featuring supporting acts including ICEHOUSE, Ian Moss, John Rooney, and Kate Ceberano. The extensive lineup promises a full afternoon and evening of entertainment for concertgoers.
Transport Considerations for Attendees
Organisers have issued important warnings about transportation to the event, noting that redevelopments to the Midland Line will create challenges for attendees. No shuttle buses will operate from Guildford train station, making alternative arrangements necessary.
The only shuttle option available will be Buswest transfers to and from the venue. Concertgoers can secure bus passes from the Buswest office in Cockburn on Saturday if they haven't already arranged transportation.
Sandalford Wines CEO Grant Brinklow emphasised the benefits of using bus transport for the event. "The buses depart 20 minutes after the concert ends and our guests can forget the drive and focus on enjoying the experience," he explained.
