Red Bull Soapbox Race at Alexandra Palace: Eccentric Spectacle
Red Bull Soapbox Race: Eccentric Spectacle in London

The Red Bull Soapbox Race returned to Alexandra Palace in London, drawing large crowds with its high-spirited and eccentric annual event. Participants in fancy dress raced homemade soapboxes down a downhill course filled with hazards, often resulting in spectacular crashes and breakdowns.

Imaginative Entries and Costumes

Teams showcased creative designs, including a Charles-themed entry by Team King of the Hill, a Ghostbusters-themed soapbox, and a Chinese takeaway-inspired vehicle. Costumes were a key part of the fun, with participants dressing as everything from Newcastle United fans to a giant eagle. Bendy the Hoover cleared the jump, while the Bath Kraken made its run.

Challenges and Spectacle

The often flimsy soapboxes frequently came apart over the jump, adding to the entertainment. Haringey Hounds Blades of Fury, a team from the Alexandra Palace ice rink, participated, and two young entrants prepared for take-off. A desk soapbox landed heavily, and even skateboarding provided inspiration for one entry.
