Bullsbrook Bushfire: Critical Emergency as Evacuation Routes Blocked, Residents Told to Shelter
Residents in parts of Bullsbrook are facing a life-threatening situation as a terrifying bushfire rages, with authorities warning it is now too late to leave due to impacted evacuation routes. Firefighters are battling the blaze, which remains uncontained and uncontrolled, posing a severe risk to lives and homes.
Emergency Warning Issued for Bullsbrook Area
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) has issued an emergency warning for residents in an area bound by Bingham Road, Muchea South Road, and north of Neaves Road, including sections of Tonkin Highway, within the City of Swan. The bushfire, first reported around 1pm last Wednesday, is moving in a northerly direction, exacerbating the danger.
You are in danger and need to act immediately to survive. There is a threat to lives and homes, a DFES spokesperson emphasised. It is too late to leave. Fire has impacted evacuation routes and leaving now will put your life in danger.
Urgent Shelter Instructions for Residents
With evacuation routes compromised, residents have been instructed to shelter before the fire arrives. You must shelter before the fire arrives, as the extreme heat will kill you before the flames reach you, the spokesperson warned. If homes catch fire and conditions become unbearable, moving to an already burnt area is advised as a last resort.
Firefighters are actively combating the blaze on the ground, supported by several water-bombers from the sky. Road closures have been implemented, including Tonkin Highway in both directions at Neaves Road and parts of Muchea South Road, further complicating access and escape.
Separate Evacuation Order for Adjacent Area
A separate emergency warning is in effect for locals in an area bound by Muchea South Road, Great Northern Highway, the Raaf Base Pearce, and Morrissey Road intersection. Residents here have been ordered to evacuate in a southerly direction via Great Northern Highway, if it is safe to do so.
Do not wait and see, leaving at the last minute could put your life in danger, a DFES spokesperson cautioned. The cause of the blaze has been deemed accidental, adding to the urgency of the response efforts.
This developing situation underscores the critical importance of heeding emergency warnings and following official instructions during bushfire events to ensure safety and survival.
