Mother Shows Forgiveness After Son's Fatal Scooter Collision in Mandurah
In a heart-wrenching incident south of Perth, the mother of an 11-year-old boy killed in a scooter accident has publicly stated she does not blame the driver involved. Michael Judge lost his life on April 6 after being struck by a car while riding his scooter near a friend's house in Mandurah.
Gratitude Amid Grief: A Nurse's Heroic Efforts
Jaymie Zisson, Michael's mother, expressed deep gratitude for a local nurse and other good Samaritans who rushed to the scene on Mandurah Terrace. Despite their tireless efforts to save him, Michael was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. Zisson highlighted the nurse's unwavering dedication, saying, "There's one nurse - I'd like to thank her very much because she was tired but she wouldn't give up." She also mentioned being thankful for the chance to be with her son in his final moments.
No Blame Towards Driver in Easter Tragedy
In an emotional statement, Zisson revealed she holds no animosity towards the driver, describing the event as a tragic accident. "I don't have any hate," she said, adding that she hopes to meet the driver for a conversation. This act of forgiveness comes during the Easter holiday period, adding to the poignancy of the situation.
Cherished Memories and Financial Struggles
Zisson shared a touching memory from Michael's last day, where he gave her a lolly wrapper, which she plans to keep forever as a memento of her "little angel." As a mother of four facing financial hardship, she has set up an online fundraiser to cover funeral costs. "I wanted to go with the kids to pick out some little things to put in his coffin and he'll be cremated with them," she explained, noting her lack of savings and funds.
The community's response has been one of support, with many rallying behind the family during this difficult time. The incident underscores the importance of road safety and the profound impact of such tragedies on families.
