Thornton House Fire: Car Ignites Blaze, Family Home Damaged
Car fire spreads to Thornton home, no one injured

Emergency services rushed to a Thornton property on Thursday afternoon after a car fire escalated, threatening a family home and neighbouring houses.

Firefighters Battle Spreading Flames

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews were dispatched to Tallowood Way just after 3pm on November 13 following multiple emergency calls. Upon arrival, they confronted a severe scene: a car parked in the driveway was fully engulfed, and flames had already spread to the medium-sized, single-level house.

Six fire crews and a duty commander worked tirelessly to bring the situation under control. The fire was declared under control by 4pm, with crews remaining on site until approximately 6.30pm to ensure the scene was fully safe.

Lucky Escape for Occupants

Authorities confirmed that the home was unoccupied at the time the fire broke out. This fortunate circumstance meant that no injuries were reported amongst residents or emergency responders.

Initial information from the first triple-zero caller indicated that the fire likely started in the vehicle before quickly moving to the main structure. The swift response from firefighters was crucial in preventing the blaze from spreading to adjacent properties.

Scene Secured and Handed Back

After hours of diligent work, firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze and secured the property. The scene was officially handed back to the owner once it was deemed safe.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of how quickly a vehicle fire can become a major emergency, endangering lives and property.
