Four fight for life after Brisbane house fire

Early Morning Blaze Tears Through Lawnton Home

Four people are fighting for their lives after a ferocious fire ripped through a home in Lawnton, north of Brisbane, in the early hours of Sunday morning. Emergency services were called to Darcy Way around 5.40am after receiving multiple reports that the house was alight.

Emergency Response and Neighbour Evacuations

The Queensland Fire Department (QFD) dispatched five fire crews to the scene, who arrived to find the single-story home well involved in flames and suffering from significant structural collapse. Firefighters acted swiftly to prevent the blaze from spreading, rushing to nearby properties to help evacuate multiple neighbours as a safety precaution.

Victims Rushed to Hospital with Significant Burns

Paramedics on the scene assessed four patients: a teenage boy, a teenage girl, a man in his 30s, and a woman in her 30s. Tragically, all four sustained significant burns and were transported to hospital in potentially life-threatening conditions. There are also unconfirmed reports that a fifth person may be unaccounted for as investigations continue.

Residents who were evacuated were allowed to return to their homes just before 7am, with rainfall in the area assisting firefighters in their final efforts to extinguish the inferno. A QFD spokesperson confirmed that fire investigators have been requested to attend the scene and will work with police to determine the cause of the fire.
