Within minutes of the system's arrival, hail the size of golf balls began falling heavily, accompanied by pelting rain and fierce winds that reached speeds of up to 90km/h at Sydney Airport.
Drivers were forced to pull over at Cambridge Park as roads quickly flooded, creating hazardous conditions. Firefighters were called to assist one motorist who became stuck in the rising water, highlighting the immediate dangers posed by the sudden deluge. The storm's impact extended beyond Sydney's west, reaching out to the Blue Mountains and even as far as Goulburn, where play was suspended at a Giants game as players and officials took cover for safety.
