Farizon Electric Vans and Trucks Enter Australia

Farizon Electrifies Australian Commercial Vehicle Market with New Vans and Trucks

Farizon Auto, the commercial vehicle division of China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, is making a significant entry into Australia's electric van and truck sector. This move follows its expansion into right-hand-drive markets last year, with Saudi Arabia-based Jameel Motors securing an agreement to distribute Farizon's electric vehicles in Australia.

SuperVan: A Versatile Electric Cargo Hauler

Leading the Australian lineup is the SuperVan, also known as the SV, a cargo hauler available in three variants. These include one short-wheelbase and two long-wheelbase models, with low-roof and high-roof configurations offered for the long-wheelbase versions. The gross vehicle mass is 3500kg, making it suitable for various commercial applications.

Claimed WLTP range varies by model: 319km for the LWB high roof, 355km for the LWB low roof, and 376km for the SWB low roof, all powered by an 83kWh battery. A front-mounted electric motor delivers 170kW and 336Nm of torque, ensuring robust performance.

In terms of design, the SuperVan comes in stylish colours such as Jade White, Porcelain Grey, Bamboo Green, and Satin Blue. It features a heated multi-function steering wheel, heated and ventilated faux leather seats, and a 12.3-inch LCD infotainment screen, blending utility with comfort.

Practical features include vehicle-to-load capability with 3.3kW of continuous power for running equipment, a payload weight monitoring display, and rear barn doors that swing open from 180 to 270 degrees. Farizon dealer principal Paul McGovern noted, "At present, we have success in selling them to large freight companies, plus one landscape company, a cleaning company, and several small businesses."

Pricing and Incentives

Drive-away pricing for the SuperVan starts at:

  • SWB low roof: From $69,990
  • LWB low roof: From $73,990
  • LWB high roof: $76,990

Until March 15, a cash back offer of $3888 is available on each of these prices, enhancing affordability for buyers.

H9E Truck: Expanding Electric Options

The Farizon H9E truck is also available in Australia, offered in 4.5-tonne and 8-tonne variants with multiple battery pack options. For instance, a 4.5-tonne model with a cargo box at the Farizon dealership in Canning Vale provides approximately 310km of range and is priced from $85,580 RRP, including GST but excluding on-road costs.

Background and Global Reach

Geely, the parent company, is a global automotive giant behind renowned brands like Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, and Zeekr. The SuperVan concept was launched in 2022-23 as part of a broader lineup of zero-emission buses and trucks, underscoring Farizon's commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.

This expansion into Australia represents a strategic step in Farizon's global growth, targeting the increasing demand for electric commercial vehicles in the region.
