A high-performance Lexus driver has faced the full force of the law after being clocked at an astonishing 166km/h in a Gateshead zone, resulting in immediate licence suspension and substantial penalties.
The incident occurred on a Gateshead roadway where the luxury vehicle was detected travelling at speeds that posed a serious danger to other road users and pedestrians. Police officers intercepted the vehicle following the extreme speeding detection.
Court documents revealed the driver pleaded guilty to the charge of driving at a dangerous speed exceeding the limit by more than 45km/h. The magistrate delivered a stern warning about the consequences of such reckless behaviour on Australian roads.
