A quiet Monday morning in West Perth turned to tragedy when a devastating collision claimed the life of a Startrack worker and left another man fighting for his life.
WA Police are investigating the possibility that the driver of a white Toyota Hilux may have been involved in two separate incidents within moments, culminating in the fatal crash that occurred around 10:40 AM on Hay Street.
The Chain of Events
Emergency services rushed to the scene near the intersection of Hay and Thomas Streets after reports of a serious collision. What they discovered was a scene of devastation.
A 56-year-old man, believed to be a Startrack employee, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The circumstances suggest he was working when the incident occurred.
The driver of the Toyota Hilux, a 27-year-old man, was transported to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries. His current condition remains unknown.
Police Investigation Reveals Disturbing Possibility
WA Police Senior Constable Beau Zulla revealed crucial details that have added complexity to the investigation.
"We believe the Toyota may have been involved in a separate, non-injury crash on nearby Kings Park Road just prior to this fatal incident," Senior Constable Zulla stated.
This revelation has investigators working to piece together exactly what happened in the minutes leading up to the tragedy.
Community and Workplace in Mourning
The death has sent shockwaves through both the local West Perth community and the Startrack workforce. The company, a well-known logistics provider, is providing support to the employee's family and colleagues.
Forensic officers have conducted extensive examinations of the scene while major crash investigators work to establish the complete sequence of events.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed either collision, or who may have dashcam footage from the Hay Street or Kings Park Road areas around 10:30-10:45 AM, to come forward immediately.
