A new 60km/h speed limit on the M1 Princes Motorway at Mount Ousley took effect on Monday, September 8, as part of ongoing construction for the Mount Ousley Interchange project.
The speed limit for light vehicles traveling southbound on a 1.8-kilometre section from near Mount Ousley Road has been reduced from 80km/h to 60km/h. Heavy vehicles must maintain 40km/h then 60km/h, down from 80km/h.
The reduced speed limits will be in place from 7am Monday to 5pm Friday for the next 18 months, but will not apply during public holidays and peak holiday periods.
The changes are due to increased heavy vehicle movements, machinery, and workers near the motorway. Motorists are urged to drive to conditions and follow signs and traffic control directions.
