AAP Community Services is dedicated to fostering an inclusive community that respects, values, and empowers all individuals with disabilities. The organisation creates opportunities for people to achieve their goals and enhance the quality of life for everyone living with a disability.
Operations are built upon core values promoting individual growth, empowerment, achievement, equality, and excellence.
Supported Independent Living
AAP Community Services assists people with disabilities to live in shared independent living arrangements within the Maitland and Hunter regions. Shared living offers residents the chance to live with people they choose, meeting social needs and increasing independence while receiving support to reach their potential.
Residents are supported to engage in vocational, educational, and recreational activities of their choice. They take an active role in the home, including participating in meal preparation and choosing social activities with housemates and friends.
When living in a shared residence managed by AAP Community Services, you will:
- Live in a home where you feel secure and comfortable.
- Enjoy privacy and freedom.
- Be involved in decisions about changes to your home and activities.
- Have the information and encouragement to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Short-Term Accommodation
AAP Community Services offers quality short-term accommodation with staff who support you to achieve your dreams. We provide flexible support to ensure choice and control through individualised care.
Services include:
- Short-term accommodation (centre-based respite).
- Individual and group respite.
- Outings through social and recreational programs.
- Support delivered by highly trained staff.
Group and Individual Activities
AAP offers small group activities and one-to-one support in both centre and community-based settings. This creates opportunities for learning, developing skills, and exploring new experiences. The community participation program assists participants to develop skills needed for independence and active community involvement. These focus on fun, educational programs that help individuals expand social networks, gain life skills, and maintain physical health and wellbeing.
Programs are offered during the day, evening, or on weekends and can be tailored to individual needs.
Their life skills development programs use a person-centred active support philosophy. Designed for people with a disability of all ages, these programs support the development of social and communication skills, problem-solving, self-awareness, and independence.
Group activities are designed to support you to get out in your local community while building skills in catching public transport, money handling, and building relationships.
Coordination of Support
The support coordination team delivers professional, person-centred service tailored to individual needs. They ensure you feel supported and confident throughout your NDIS journey. Their goal is to simplify the process and provide guidance to navigate your plan with ease.
AAP Community Services staff are committed to helping you maximise the value of your NDIS plan by aligning supports with your personal goals. Through collaboration, they ensure your funding is used effectively. A key focus is promoting choice and control. They respect your right to make informed decisions about providers and will present high-quality service options while ensuring the final choice remains yours.
The team at AAP Community Services believe you should remain at the centre of your support journey. They empower you to take an active role in planning your services with the ongoing support of your coordinator.
