Perth’s health, beauty, and creative circles came together for the fifth annual Youth Lab and Pancare charity dinner, raising crucial funds for pancreatic cancer research. The sold-out event, hosted by Perth cosmetic doctor and Youth Lab co-founder Dr Kate Jameson, took place at Besk in West Leederville.
A Personal Mission
Dr Jameson founded the dinner following the loss of her mother to pancreatic cancer, a disease that remains one of Australia’s deadliest due to late detection and lack of early symptoms. That grief has since become a driving force behind her advocacy, reshaping how she thinks about health and prevention.
Event Highlights
The evening featured remarks from Dr Jameson, a live auction of a stunning $1,750 Kalis pearl necklace, a silent auction, and a sale of original artwork. Together, these activities raised a total of $35,000, with all proceeds directed to the Pancare Foundation to support pancreatic cancer research and patient care.
Advances in Detection
This event comes after researchers at Penn Medicine and Mayo Clinic published results from a new blood test capable of detecting pancreatic cancer correctly at a rate of more than 91 per cent. The Avantect blood test launched in Australia in January, offering new hope for early detection.
The annual dinner has become one of Perth’s most anticipated charitable gatherings, now in its fifth year. Dr Jameson’s personal story continues to inspire the community to come together and make a difference in the fight against pancreatic cancer.
