For those who share a bed, comfort isn't just personal—it is negotiated. Most people do not sleep at the same temperature, turning many bedrooms into a nightly hot-and-cold compromise. Sheridan has introduced clippable quilts that allow sleepers to customise their side of the bed to match their preferred temperature, quilt weight, and fibre.
How Clippable Quilts Work
Neil McLeish, senior merchandise manager at Sheridan, explained the concept: "Everyone sleeps differently, whether you're sharing a bed with a partner or changing your sleep habits over the course of a season. It can be hard to find the right bedding, and that's why we created our clippable quilts so you can customise your quilt to create your perfect sleep, year-round."
Start with a base quilt, recommended to suit whoever sleeps warmer, as extra layers can be added later. In colder months, an extra layer can be added by clipping two quilts together. Simply line up the tags and clip the quilts along the edges. McLeish advised: "Don't be afraid to pair different fibres together to find what works best for your sleep."
Fibre Options and Disguising Height Differences
The range includes fibres such as feather and down, Australian wool, and premium polyester fill with antibacterial treatment. Attaching layers adds some extra height to the side it is clipped on. To mask the height difference, flip the quilt over so the half quilt is on the underside. Patterned and textured quilt covers also help create a disguise. Rebellious from Sheridan's Abottson range is designed to disguise subtle height variations on a clippable quilt.
Care and Sizes
Air the clippable quilt regularly and wash it once a year following care instructions. Sizes range from single to super king. Quilt layers clip to the outside of the base quilt, with gentle grip tabs securing the centre and preventing movement. McLeish concluded: "And it is that simple. That's how you can add layers to change your quilt between the seasons."
